Mt. Alfred’s summit affords spectacular views of the Dart and Rees Valleys

Ascend through lush rainforest to an alpine wonderland and incredible views from the summit of Mount Alfred, the natural world’s best viewing platform. Enjoy enormous 360-degree panoramic views filled with snow-capped peaks, braided rivers, lakes and pristine rain forest. Below your feet is an intricate alpine wonderland waiting to be discovered.
Choose to hike up or heli up! Helicopter trips come with the option of hiking out or saving your energy and flying out; the heli roundtrip involves walking the easy ridgeline trail, then enjoying a picnic lunch in the warm sun and scenery before flying out.
This track is now only accessible with Mt Alfred Guiding Company as this is private land. The land owners are very committed to conservation of this pristine area and want to avoid too many hiking the summit – this will be to your advantage as you will have the whole summit to yourself! The guiding company are also committed to conservation; you’ll be supporting their goal of planting thousands of native trees by walking with them.
Availability typically runs from October to July. The track is steep, and above the bushline it’s exposed; not recommended for young children.
